La Winerie Parisienne was born in 2015 thanks to the joint efforts of Julien Bengué and Adrien Pelissié. With the goal of reviving the Parisian wine tradition, the two decided to import wine from several French wine regions. The wine is then blended and bottled in the heart of Paris.
The Parisian wine tradition is very old. For a long time, the Ile de France was a major wine producing area. Under Louis XV, a royal decree forbade even the import of wine from more than 70 kilometers from Paris. Under the effect of phylloxera, the vineyard almost entirely disappeared. Then with the increasing urbanization of the capital, the culture of the vine in the Paris region died out. As for the wine trade in Paris, the last wine shop disappeared in the early 1970s.

The idea of the Winerie Parisienne was born… over a beer. Julien and Adrien, who studied in the same school, wanted to work together and use their respective expertise. Julien’s career was in information technology and innovation, Adrien’s in marketing in the wine world.
In 2015, the Winerie Parisienne set up shop in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. It was the first urban winery created in France. Since then, the concept has been emulated by other urban wineries such as Les Vignerons Parisiens in Paris and Microcosmos in Marseille.
La Winerie Parisienne blends and markets its first vintages in 2015:
– Grisant blanc (a sauvignon blanc from the Bordeaux region)
– Grisant red (a merlot also from the Bordeaux region)
– a rosé (a blend of grenache and cinsault).
The products are sold directly at the winery. They are also distributed in some wine shops. Julien and Adrien wish to develop their points of sale in the capital, but also to export outside Paris. For that, the objective is to increase the production. This year, the Winerie Parisienne will not only assemble and bottle wine in Paris. Julien and Adrien will bring in grapes from several carefully selected winemakers and will vinify the wines entirely in their cellar.
The two wine entrepreneurs do not want to stop there! On January 1, 2016, French wine legislation changed and now allows planting vines outside of traditional appellations. La Winerie Parisienne aims to revive the Parisian vineyard by planting vines as early as next year, with the goal of producing a 100% Parisian wine in 2021!
